Parents Often Ask
Questions, answered.
Are the teachers native English speakers?
Yes. Native teachers are at the core of the programme for pronunciation and accent, and the share of native-teacher time rises at every level. In the elementary stages, Egyptian and native teachers work together so your child gets both clear accent and strong grammar foundations.
My child is completely new to English — where do they start?
At the very beginning, with phonics. The Pre-KG level focuses on sounds, listening and first spoken words, then builds step by step. A free assessment places your child at exactly the right starting level so they're never overwhelmed or held back.
How is this different from a regular online English course?
Most courses teach only vocabulary or conversation. Pencil Academy builds every skill together — reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and pronunciation — along one continuous path from Pre-KG to Grade 9, with continuous assessment and regular feedback for parents.
How will I know my child is improving?
You receive regular progress feedback, corrected written work, practice worksheets and clear learning objectives for each stage. Progress is measured against internationally recognised CEFR levels, so it's transferable and easy to follow.
Does the course prepare children for IELTS?
Yes. IELTS skills begin naturally inside lessons from Grade 6 and deepen through Grade 9, where students reach confident academic English and full IELTS readiness.
Is the first assessment really free?
Yes — the English assessment is free and comes with a detailed personalised feedback report covering listening, speaking, writing, your child's CEFR level and a recommended starting level. There's no obligation to enrol.
